Project Overview
The Cambridge Business Hub is a newly developed commercial workspace designed to attract tech startups and innovation-led companies. Gooding Aluminium was approached to supply durable, design-led aluminium finishes to match the architect’s clean, modern aesthetic.
Our team delivered custom perforated aluminium wall panels and precision-finished skirtings that met the client’s brief for durability, easy maintenance, and visual impact — all within a tight build schedule.
The Challenge
The client required wall finishes that could deliver visual impact, ease of cleaning, and fire safety compliance. With high daily footfall expected, durability was also key. The design team was specifically looking for metallic finishes that would reflect light, enhance the space, and avoid the institutional look of plastic or timber alternatives.
Additionally, the developer was working to a compressed timeline, meaning precision and delivery reliability were non-negotiable.
The Solution
Gooding Aluminium worked directly with the architect and main contractor to supply a suite of interior aluminium products, including:
- Custom perforated aluminium wall panels
- Shadow gap skirtings with anodised finish
- Aluminium stair nosings for two main stairwells
Our in-house technical team provided detailed CAD drawings and advised on the best fixing methods to ensure flush, clean installations. Products were delivered pre-cut to specification to reduce on-site fabrication time and ensure accuracy.
The perforated panels were finished in satin anodised aluminium (SAA), offering both high-end aesthetics and excellent wear resistance.
The Results
The installation achieved a minimal, high-end look that supports the building’s contemporary interior scheme. The aluminium panels not only enhanced the space visually but have proven resistant to scuffs, dents, and cleaning chemicals used in day-to-day maintenance.
