Aluminium Moulding Profiles & Shaped Trim Sections

Stock Aluminium Moulding Trims For Joinery, Fit-Out And Decorative Detailing

Our aluminium moulding profiles are precision-extruded in grade 6063 alloy and stocked in two shaped trim sizes — GA 1371 (25.4 x 4.75mm overall) and GA 1372 (24.0 x 10.50mm overall). Unlike standard geometric sections such as flat bar or channel, these moulding profiles have a shaped cross section that gives a more refined, finished edge detail when applied as a surface or cover trim. They are used in joinery, cabinetwork, shopfitting, display work, and interior fit-out wherever a plain flat strip would give an unfinished or visually unresolved result. Both profiles are stocked in mill (untreated) and natural anodised finish in standard 4-metre lengths, with next-day UK dispatch and a cutting service available on request.

Aluminium Moulding Profile FAQs

Below are answers to common questions about our aluminium moulding profiles, including what O/A dims means, how the two profiles differ, surface finishes, and ordering and delivery details.

Aluminium moulding profiles are shaped trim extrusions with a more complex or decorative cross section than a standard flat bar, angle, or channel. They are used wherever a surface or edge detail needs a finished, considered profile rather than a plain flat face — for example as cover strips and finishing trims on furniture, joinery, and cabinetwork; as decorative edge details on display stands, retail fixtures, and shopfitting installations; as shadow line trims and reveal details in interior fit-out work; and as functional surface trims where the profile shape helps direct water, light, or attention in a specific way. The shaped cross section gives a finished, professional appearance that is not achievable with plain flat bar alone.

O/A DIMS stands for overall dimensions — the outer envelope measurements of the profile cross section, given as width by height in millimetres. For example, GA 1371 has overall dimensions of 25.4 x 4.75mm, meaning the profile is 25.4mm wide and 4.75mm at its tallest point. GA 1372 has overall dimensions of 24.0 x 10.50mm, making it a similar width but significantly deeper. The overall dimensions give you the footprint and projection of the moulding when fixed in place, which is important for checking clearances and visual proportions in your design. For the full cross-section shape and internal detail, click the illustrated product images to view the dimensional drawings.

Both are shaped moulding trim profiles in grade 6063 alloy, available in mill or natural anodised finish, stocked in 4-metre lengths. The key difference is the profile depth: GA 1371 is 25.4 x 4.75mm overall — relatively shallow and compact, suited to applications where a subtle trim detail is needed without significant projection. GA 1372 is 24.0 x 10.50mm overall — a similar width but more than twice the depth, giving a more prominent shaped profile that creates a stronger visual feature. Click the product page drawings to compare the cross-section shapes and select the one that best suits your design intent and installation requirements.

Both moulding profiles are stocked in standard 4-metre lengths. If you require lengths shorter than 4 metres, a cutting service is available — contact the sales team at sales@goodingalum.com with your required dimensions and quantities for pricing and lead times.

Yes. Both profiles are available in mill (untreated) or natural anodised finish. Natural anodised profiles carry the 'S' suffix on their product code. Anodising is carried out to BS EN ISO 7599 and provides a harder, more uniform surface with improved resistance to marking and corrosion compared to mill finish. Please note that shade variation can occur between anodised batches, and jig or clamp marks up to 50mm from each end are normal on anodised items and should be cut away before fixing where the finished appearance is important.

Mill finish (untreated) is the better choice when the moulding will be painted, powder coated, or otherwise finished after installation, or when it will be partially or fully concealed. It is also typically the lower-cost option. Natural anodised finish is the right choice when the moulding will be visible in the finished installation and a clean, consistent aluminium appearance is required — for example as a decorative feature strip, reveal trim, or surface detail in joinery or interior fit-out work.

Yes. A cutting service is available on both moulding profiles. Contact the sales team at sales@goodingalum.com with your required lengths and quantities for pricing and lead times. Powder coating to any colour in the Classic RAL Colour Management System is also available on request for mill finish items.

Yes. Grade 6063 aluminium has good natural corrosion resistance and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. For external applications where long-term surface appearance matters, natural anodised finish provides better protection than mill finish. Powder coating is also available for additional weather resistance or specific colour requirements.

Aluminium Moulding Profiles For Decorative Trim And Surface Finishing

Aluminium moulding profiles bridge the gap between the purely functional extrusion and the considered finish detail. Where a flat bar provides a plain, uniform cover, a moulding profile introduces a shaped face that catches light differently, creates a shadow line, or provides a visual transition between surfaces that reads as intentional and crafted rather than simply practical. This makes them well suited to applications in joinery and furniture where edge details matter — applied as a cover strip to a panel edge, a surface banding detail on a counter or cabinet door, or a continuous trim along a run of shelving or display. The two profiles in the Gooding Aluminium range — GA 1371 at 25.4 x 4.75mm and GA 1372 at 24.0 x 10.50mm — offer a choice between a shallow, subtle profile and a more prominent, deeper section, both extruded in grade 6063 alloy to precise tolerances.

Aluminium Mouldings For Shopfitting, Display And Interior Fit-Out

In shopfitting, retail, and display environments, aluminium moulding profiles are commonly used as feature trims on shelving systems, display panels, counter edges, and point-of-sale fixtures, where the profile detail contributes to the overall quality and finish of an installation. A shaped moulding trim gives a retail interior or exhibition display a more resolved, considered appearance compared to a plain flat bar, and in natural anodised finish it presents a refined metallic edge that suits contemporary interior aesthetics. The two profile sizes allow you to match the visual weight of the moulding to the scale of the installation — the shallower GA 1371 working well on finer details and smaller-scale joinery, the deeper GA 1372 providing a more prominent feature on larger surfaces and heavier construction.

Grade 6063 Aluminium Mouldings In Mill And Anodised Finish

Both moulding profiles are available in mill (untreated) or natural anodised finish. Mill finish is the correct choice when the profile will be painted, powder coated, or otherwise finished after installation — grade 6063 aluminium takes paint and powder coat well and is fully compatible with standard coating systems. Natural anodised finish, produced to BS EN ISO 7599, provides a hard, durable surface with a consistent matt silver appearance that is ready to fix and use without further treatment. For colour matching, powder coating to any colour in the Classic RAL Colour Management System is available on request for mill finish items. Please note that for anodised profiles, jig marks up to 50mm from each end are a normal part of the anodising process and should be cut away before fixing where the finished surface will be visible.
