Aluminium H-shape profiles — sometimes called H-section trims, H-bar profiles or joining sections — are designed to receive and retain two panel edges simultaneously within a single extrusion. Their symmetrical dual-channel form creates a neat, flush connection between two boards, sheets placed side by side. They are widely used in partition systems, display and exhibition walls, shop-fitting, frames, interior cladding, and joinery where a clean joint line is required.

Gooding Aluminium stocks H-shape profiles in four gap sizes: 7.0mm (GA 1000), 13mm (GA 1004), 20.0mm (GA 1002), and 26.0mm (GA 1003). This selection covers a broad range of panel thicknesses and units, from slim single sheets through to thicker double-skin boards.

All H-shape profiles are extruded in alloy grade 6063 aluminium alloy, conforming to specifications BS EN 755, BS EN 515, and BS EN 573. Grade 6063 is widely regarded as the standard for alloy extrusions, offering a good surface finish, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and suitability for anodising.

H-shape profiles are stocked in 4-metre lengths. This is the standard stock length across the full range of gap sizes. If you need sections cut shorter than 4 metres, a cutting service is available — contact the Gooding Aluminium sales team for a quote.

Yes. Each H-shape profile is available in either mill (untreated) finish or natural anodised finish. Natural anodised profiles carry the 'S' suffix on their product code. Anodising is carried out to BS EN ISO 7599, and provides enhanced surface protection and a cleaner appearance. Shade variations can occur between anodised items due to the nature of the process. Please note that jig or clamp marks up to 50mm from each end are normal on anodised profiles and should be cut away before fixing where aesthetic finish is critical. We can also supply polyester powder coated surface finishes, and this only adds a few days to the dispatch date.

Yes. Grade 6063 aluminium offers good natural corrosion resistance, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. For outdoor environments, a natural anodised finish provides additional surface protection. Where additional durability or colour matching is required, a powder-coated finish can be specified — contact the sales team for details.

Mill finish (untreated) is the aluminium in its extruded state, without any surface treatment applied. It has untreated metallic appearance and may show surface marks from manufacture. Natural anodised finish involves an electrolytic process that creates a hard, transparent oxide layer on the surface, giving a cleaner, more uniform satin appearance while improving resistance to surface marking and corrosion. Mill finish is the basic finish; anodised finish is the preferred option where aesthetics and durability matter.
