A hexagonal perforated aluminium sheet with 9.0 x 10.4mm apertures at 41% open area in a staggered pitch. The 9.0mm dimension is the flat-to-flat width of each hexagonal hole; 10.4mm is the point-to-point height. At 41% open area, this is the lowest open area in the hexagonal range — a counterintuitive result given that the apertures are larger than the 6mm product at 52%. The difference lies in pitch: the 9.0mm holes are set at a wider centre-to-centre spacing relative to their size, leaving broader bridges of aluminium between adjacent apertures and reducing the overall proportion of open surface.

This specification is the most appropriate choice in the hexagonal range where some acoustic or visual opacity is required alongside the honeycomb pattern — for instance in acoustic panel facings where the sheet needs to absorb sound rather than transmit it freely, or in screening applications where privacy or reduced transparency is part of the brief. The 9mm hole is large enough to read clearly as an individual hexagonal cell at viewing distances of a metre or more, giving the surface a more defined honeycomb character than the 6mm product, while the lower open area means the aluminium bridges are proportionally broader and more visible. Both 1.2mm and 2.0mm material thicknesses are available, and the 2.0mm gauge is also stocked in the larger 2500 x 1250mm sheet size.
