Description

A hexagonal perforated aluminium sheet with 20 x 23mm apertures at 59% open area in a staggered pitch — the largest hole and highest open area in the Gooding Aluminium hexagonal range, and the highest open area in the Gooding Aluminium hexagonal, round hole, and square hole ranges. The 20mm dimension is the flat-to-flat width of each hexagonal hole; 23mm is the point-to-point height. At 59% open area, nearly three-fifths of the sheet surface has been removed by perforation, leaving an aluminium lattice in which the hexagonal apertures are unmistakably the dominant element. The narrow bridges between holes are thin relative to the aperture size, giving the sheet a genuinely open, airy character.

Large-scale ventilation panels, external architectural screening, louvre substitutes, industrial guarding where airflow is critical, and any application requiring the maximum possible open area from a perforated aluminium sheet are the primary uses. At 20mm, each hexagonal cell is a bold, clearly legible feature — clearly visible from several metres away — and the surface reads as an open lattice rather than a perforated solid. This specification is only available in 2.0mm material thickness; the 1.2mm gauge available for the two smallest products in the range (the 6mm and 9mm specifications) is not appropriate at this level of perforation.
