Description

GA’s Aluminium Unequal Angle is an asymmetric L-shaped structural profile with two legs of differing lengths, manufactured from high-grade 6063 aluminium alloy to BS EN 755 standards. Available from stock in mill (untreated) or natural anodised surface finish, unequal angles are the profile of choice wherever a design calls for different span widths or fixing dimensions on each leg.

The asymmetric leg geometry provides greater flexibility than an equal angle in structural, engineering, and bespoke fabrication applications — allowing designers and fabricators to bridge mismatched surfaces, accommodate different fixing spacings, or create stepped profiles, all from a single standard section. Stock lengths are 4000mm.

Should you require a powder coated finish or cut pieces, please contact our Sales Team.

N.B. Jig marks, up to 50mm in from each end (often less than this), can be apparent on anodised items. These marks can be cut away before fixing.

Shade variations can occur with anodised surfaces due to the reactive nature of this finishing process.

Design Flexibility: Differing leg lengths allow unequal angles to bridge mismatched surfaces, fix across different material thicknesses, or create stepped profiles that would be impractical with a symmetrical section — making them indispensable in bespoke engineering and general

Lightweight Structural Performance: Aluminium’s exceptional strength-to-weight ratio means unequal angle sections deliver reliable structural support at a 2/3rds fraction of the mass of equivalent steel profiles — reducing installation effort, transport costs, and the overall load placed on supporting structures.

Anodised Surface Markings Resistance: Our test data confirms that anodised profiles achieve up to four times greater resistance to surface marking compared with mill finish — an important advantage for exposed structural elements or installations subject to regular physical contact.

Outstanding Corrosion Resistance: The natural oxide layer inherent to aluminium makes unequal angles highly resistant to corrosion in marine, coastal, and high-humidity environments — eliminating the ongoing maintenance and re-treatment costs associated with steel alternatives.

Cost-Effective & 100% Recyclable: The adaptability of a single unequal angle section across multiple fixing configurations reduces the need for additional components. Combined with aluminium’s full recyclability without loss of mechanical properties, these profiles deliver strong whole-life value.

Profile Type: Asymmetric L-Section (Unequal Angle)

Dimensions: Please refer to individual product listings for full size options

Material: High-grade 6063 Aluminium Alloy to BS EN 755 Standards

Length: 4000mm standard stock lengths

Available Finishes: Mill (Untreated) or Natural Anodised

Finish Notes: For anodised finishes, minor jig marks (electrical contact points) may be visible within 50mm of each end. These are a standard part of the process and can be trimmed during final fitting. Shade variations may occur between production batches due to the reactive nature of anodising.

Transport & Vehicle Manufacturing: Unequal angles are widely used in the construction of trailer bodies, truck beds, running boards, and commercial vehicle frames, where the asymmetric profile accommodates complex fixing requirements and differing span dimensions across the structure.

Marine & Outdoor Structures: Aluminium’s inherent corrosion resistance combined with the anodising process makes unequal angles a natural choice for boat frames, dock structures, marine equipment housings, and any outdoor application in saltwater or high-humidity environments where maintenance access is limited.

Industrial & Automation Environments: Frequently used for machine guards, conveyor framework, robotic workstation structures, and cable tray supports in factory settings — where the longer leg can be fixed to the main structure while the shorter leg provides the edge or lip required.

Furniture, Interiors & DIY: Unequal angles lend themselves to bespoke furniture frames, cabinet construction, shelving supports, and in-store fixtures, where the differing leg lengths can be exploited for creative jointing, recessed fixing solutions, or flush-face mounting.
