Description

GA’s Aluminium Tee Section is a T-shaped structural extrusion manufactured from grade 6063 aluminium alloy, to BS EN 755, 515, and 573 standards. The profile features a horizontal flange with a perpendicular stem — a geometry that provides inherent stiffness in the direction of the stem, making it an exceptionally versatile structural and fabrication profile.

Available from stock in sizes from 12.7 × 12.7mm to 50.8 × 50.8mm, in wall thicknesses of 1.6mm and 3.2mm. Choose from mill (untreated) or natural anodised surface finish. Stock lengths are 4 metres.

Should you require a powder coated finish or cut pieces, please contact our Sales Team. While browsing our product listings, please click the illustrated images for dimensional details.

Notes Jig marks, up to 50mm in from each end (often less than this), can be apparent on anodised items. These marks can be cut away before fixing.

Shade variations can occur with anodised surfaces due to the reactive nature of this finishing process.

Finish Notes:  Anodised product codes carry an ‘s’ suffix (e.g. GA 0502s). For anodised finishes, minor jig marks within 50mm of each end are a standard part of the process and can be trimmed during final fitting. Shade variations may occur between batches due to the reactive nature of anodising.

Built-in Structural Stiffness: The T-shaped cross-section resists bending along the axis of the stem far more effectively than a flat bar or angle of equivalent material weight. This makes aluminium tee sections ideal wherever a profile needs to carry a load or span an unsupported distance without deflecting.

One Profile, Two Fixing Planes: The flange and stem of a tee section provide two independent fixing surfaces at 90° to each other. This dual-plane geometry simplifies assembly in partition systems, display frameworks, and structural connections — reducing the number of components and fabrication steps required.

Proven Anodised Surface Durability: Independent testing by Ceram Building Technology (now Lucideon) found that natural anodised aluminium surfaces withstand up to four times as many abrasion passes as mill finish before showing visible marking. For tee sections used in high-contact locations — such as partition dividers, shelf runners, or display frames — the anodised option offers significantly longer visual life.

Corrosion Resistance Without Maintenance: 6063 aluminium alloy forms a stable, self-renewing oxide layer that protects the surface from non-salt moisture, and mild atmospheric conditions without additional treatment or re-coating. Tee sections used in damp, coastal, or chemical environments must be anodised to maintain structural integrity and appearance over the long term.

Easy to Work With: Aluminium tee sections can be cut, drilled, and welded without specialist equipment, and are light enough to handle and install without lifting aids. The 6063 alloy is specifically rated as excellent for welding — a useful property when tee sections need to be joined to other extrusions or fabricated into other

Partition & Interior Fitout Systems: The stem of an aluminium tee section can slot into or align with channel profiles to create clean, positive-locking joints in partition wall frameworks, suspended ceiling grids, and internal dividing systems. The T geometry provides a natural centre-line reference that simplifies layout and assembly in modular interiors.

Structural Panel Stiffening: Tee sections are widely used as stiffening ribs bonded or fastened to the reverse of aluminium sheet panels, composite panels, and signage boards. The projecting stem increases the panel’s moment of inertia, reducing deflection across unsupported spans without significantly increasing overall weight.

Signage, Display & Retail Frameworks: The T-profile is a practical choice for the structural spine of freestanding display systems, exhibition stands, and sign mounting frameworks. The flange provides a wide bearing surface for panel attachment, while the stem creates a visible or concealed connecting element between structural uprights and cross members.

Machine Guards, Workstations & Industrial Fabrication: In factory and workshop environments, aluminium tee sections are used to frame machinery guards, build workbench sub-structures, and create support rails for sliding components. The inherent stiffness of the T-section means that long unsupported spans are practical in situations where a flat bar would deflect under load.
