Description

Aluminium Edge Trim 9mm Gap

The GA 1025 is an aluminium general-purpose trim with a 9.0mm single-slot gap — a mid-narrow edge trim that bridges the material thickness territory between thin display-grade sheet and the standard 12mm boarding used in general fit-out. As with all profiles in the miscellaneous channel trim range, this is a single-slot edge cap: it slides onto one panel or board edge to finish and protect the exposed face, not a connector for joining two panels together.

The 9.0mm gap suits boards and panels in the 8–9mm thickness range — a size that appears frequently in bathroom and kitchen wall cladding panels, tile-effect composite boarding, thicker display substrates, and some cabinetry backs and infill panels. These materials are often specified in part because of their flush, cleanable surface, and the GA 1025 provides a matching edge detail that keeps the same standard at the panel perimeter.

Manufactured from grade 6063 aluminium alloy to BS EN 755, 515, and 573 standards. Available from stock in mill (untreated) or natural anodised finish in 4-metre lengths. Powder coat and cut lengths available to order.

N.B. Jig marks, up to 50mm in from each end (often less than this), can be apparent on anodised items. These marks can be cut away before fixing.

Shade variations can occur with anodised surfaces due to the reactive nature of this finishing process.

Suitable Material Thickness:  Typically 8–9mm (cladding panels, bathroom/kitchen wall boards, composite sheets) — refer to the dimensional drawing for precise tolerances

Profile Function:  Single-slot edge trim/cap — finishes and protects ONE panel or board edge (not a panel-to-panel connector)

Profile Category:  Miscellaneous Channel — Single-Slot Edge Trim

Material:  Grade 6063 Aluminium Alloy

Standards:  BS EN 755, BS EN 515, BS EN 573

Anodising Standard:  BS EN ISO 7599

Powder Coating Standard:  BS 6496 (1984) — available to order, please contact Sales

Length:  4 metres (4000mm) standard stock length

Available Finishes:  Mill (Untreated) or Natural Anodised

Processing Services:  Cutting to length (straight and mitre), hole drilling, rolling and curving — contact Sales Team

Finish Notes:  Anodised product codes carry an ‘s’ suffix. Jig marks within 50mm of each end are standard and can be trimmed during final fitting. Shade variations may occur between batches.

Surface Marking Test:  Independent testing (Ceram / Lucideon): anodised surface achieved up to 4× greater abrasion resistance than mill finish

The Right Gap for Cladding Panel Thicknesses: Wet-room cladding panels, bathroom wall boards, and kitchen splash-back panels are commonly manufactured in 8mm thickness. The GA 1025’s 9.0mm gap provides the controlled working tolerance needed to fit cleanly over these panels without the edge floating loosely in a wider slot — keeping the trim tight to the panel face and preventing moisture tracking behind the trim at wall perimeters.

Moisture Resistance: Grade 6063 aluminium forms a natural oxide layer that resists moisture, humidity, and non-abrasive cleaning. The GA 1025 is therefore suited, when used with an applied anodised finish, to wet and high-humidity environments — bathrooms, shower rooms, commercial kitchens, and pool areas — where metal edge trims made from plated steel would corrode and where rubber edge trims would harden and crack over time.

Clean Perimeter Edge for Flush-Face Cladding Systems: Many cladding panel systems are specified for their smooth, hygienic surface finish. A raw board edge at a wall abutment, floor-to-wall junction, or panel perimeter undermines this finish by exposing the raw core material. The GA 1025 brings the same clean, non-porous surface quality to the panel edge, completing the installation without introducing a visually or hygienically weaker element at the perimeter.

Anodised Surface Durability Verified by Independent Testing: Ceram Building Technology (now Lucideon) independently tested anodised aluminium extrusions and confirmed they resist surface marking at up to four times the rate of mill finish under abrasion conditions. In wet-room and kitchen environments where edge trims are frequently wiped, scrubbed, and exposed to cleaning agents, the additional surface hardness of the anodised option directly translates to a longer-looking, lower-maintenance installation.

Can Be Mitre-Cut for Neat Internal and External Corners: GA’s processing service includes mitre cutting — so the GA 1025 can be ordered already cut to 45° mitres for internal or external corners, eliminating the need for on-site cutting and reducing installation time. This is particularly useful for cladding perimeters where corner details are visible and a clean mitre reads significantly better than a butt joint.

Bathroom, Wet-Room & Kitchen Wall Cladding: Wet-room and kitchen wall cladding panels in PVC, acrylic, or aluminium-faced composite are commonly 8mm thick. The GA 1025 provides the perimeter edge trim at floor, ceiling, and wall abutments, forming a watertight metal edge detail that matches the panel’s clean face. The corrosion-resistant aluminium profile is unaffected by the steam, humidity, and cleaning chemicals typical of these environments.

Shower & Pool Surround Panel Edges: In commercial and residential pool surrounds, changing facilities, and communal shower areas, exposed panel edges are subject to constant moisture, heavy foot traffic past the wall line, and regular chemical cleaning. The GA 1025, with an anodised finish, caps these edges with a corrosion resistant aluminium profile that holds its appearance over the long term without the bubbling, rust staining, or delamination that affects inferior edge trim materials.

Tile-Effect Composite Panel Perimeters: Tile-effect and stone-effect composite panels used as a cost-effective alternative to ceramic tiling in residential and commercial fit-out are typically 7–9mm thick. The GA 1025 provides the edge trim at panel perimeters, cover strips at internal angles, and end-of-run finish details — tying the installation together with a consistent metallic edge that complements the panel’s surface finish.

Commercial & Retail Refrigeration Units & Cold Storage: Cold room linings, commercial refrigerator surround panels, and food-preparation area wall boards are frequently specified in hygienic composite sheet around 8–9mm thick. The GA 1025’s corrosion resistance, enhanced with an anodised finish, makes it appropriate for these environments, where temperature cycling and condensation would cause non-aluminium edge trims to degrade quickly.
