Description

The GA 1000 is an H-shaped aluminium alloy panel joint trim with a 7.0mm internal gap — GA’s slimmest panel joinery profile. The H cross-section presents two open channels back to back, each accepting a panel edge and holding it on three sides, creating a clean, continuous metal joint line between adjacent panels. At 7.0mm, the gap is sized for thin materials: 6mm boards, slim composite panels, veneered sheet products, and lightweight facing materials used in display, furniture, and interior fit-out work.

Manufactured from grade 6063 aluminium alloy to BS EN 755, 515, and 573 standards. Available from stock in mill (untreated) or natural anodised surface finish in 4-metre lengths. Powder coat and cut lengths available to order via the Sales Team.

N.B. Jig marks, up to 50mm in from each end (often less than this), can be apparent on anodised items. These marks can be cut away before fixing.

Shade variations can occur with anodised surfaces due to the reactive nature of this finishing process.

Gap Width:  7.0mm

Suitable Panel Thickness:  Typically, 6mm — refer to the dimensional drawing for precise tolerances

Profile Type:  H-Section Panel Joint Trim (open I/H-shaped extrusion)

Material:  Grade 6063 Aluminium Alloy

Standards:  BS EN 755, BS EN 515, BS EN 573

Anodising Standard:  BS EN ISO 7599

Powder Coating Standard:  BS 6496 (1984) — available to order, please contact Sales

Length:  4 metres (4000mm) standard stock length

Available Finishes:  Mill (Untreated) or Natural Anodised

Finish Notes:  Anodised product codes carry an ‘s’ suffix (e.g. GA 1000s). Minor jig marks within 50mm of each end are standard and can be trimmed during final fitting. Shade variations may occur between batches due to the reactive nature of anodising.

Surface Marking Test:  Independent testing (Ceram / Lucideon): anodised surface achieved up to 4× greater abrasion resistance than mill finish.

Precision Fit for Slim Panel Materials: The 7.0mm gap is sized specifically for thin-format boards and sheets. Where a wider H-section would leave visible play around a thin panel edge, the GA 1000’s tighter slot produces a snug, controlled fit that minimises lateral movement within the joint and keeps the panel line consistent along the full length of the run.

The Slimmest Face Width in the H-Shape Range: Because the gap is narrow, the overall face width of the GA 1000 is the smallest in GA’s H-section range. This makes it the natural choice wherever a discreet joint line is a design priority — the metal trim reads as a fine detail rather than a heavy dividing element between panels.

Clean Two-Panel Connection Without Additional Fixings: Both panel edges slide into the profile simultaneously — no adhesive, no visible mechanical fixings on the panel face. The H-section’s web sits on the joint line itself, holding both panels in plane and eliminating any step or misalignment at the joint. This is particularly useful for display and presentation surfaces where a flush, continuous face is required.

Durable Anodised Finish Where the Joint is Visible: Independent testing by Ceram Building Technology (now Lucideon) confirmed that anodised aluminium extrusions withstand up to four times the abrasion before showing surface damage compared with mill finish. For joint trims that are visible at close range — as in furniture, cabinetry, and interior display — the anodised finish provides meaningful long-term appearance retention.

Corrosion Resistant, Little Maintenance Required: Grade 6063 aluminium forms a stable natural oxide layer without any applied treatment, making the GA 1000 resistant to mild atmospheric corrosion, humidity, and non-abrasive cleaning products typically used in commercial interiors. Once installed, no painting or sealing is normally needed over the profile’s service life.

Furniture & Cabinetry Panel Joints: The GA 1000’s slim gap and narrow face width suit the fine tolerances of furniture construction, where panel edges are typically 6mm or thinner veneered boards. Used to create flush-face joint lines between cabinet door panels, wardrobe carcass components, and built-in furniture units in both residential and commercial fit-out projects.

Exhibition Stands & Display Boards: Exhibition builders frequently specify thin lightweight boards — often 6mm foam-core, Foamex, or thin composite sheet — to keep stand weight down. The GA 1000 joins adjacent display boards cleanly without adding structural bulk, and the anodised finish provides a professional metallic joint detail that reads well under exhibition lighting.

Retail Interior Panelling & Feature Walls: For thin decorative facing panels used as feature wall linings in shops, showrooms, and hospitality interiors, the GA 1000 provides a controlled joint that holds panel edges in alignment while the slim profile keeps the trim detail subordinate to the panel surface. The natural anodised finish works well alongside a wide range of panel materials and finishes.

Lightweight Partitioning & Screen Systems: In modular screen and partition systems built from thin-format panel stock, the GA 1000 creates the panel-to-panel connection point while keeping the overall profile slim enough not to interrupt sightlines or the visual rhythm of a panelled surface. The profile can be cut to length on site and requires no specialist tooling.
