Description

The GA 1004 is an H-shaped aluminium alloy panel joint trim with a 13mm internal gap — GA’s mid-range panel joiner, sized for the most chosen board thicknesses in interior fit-out and construction. The profile connects two panel edges within a continuous H-section, locking both faces in plane and presenting a clean metal joint line without any visible fixing hardware on the panel surface.

At 13mm, the gap accepts standard 12mm MDF, plywood, and particleboard — the workhorses of shopfitting, office fit-out, and boarding work. This makes the GA 1004 the everyday specification choice within the H-shape trim range: it covers the panel thickness used most frequently on-site, without requiring special order or cutting.

Manufactured from grade 6063 aluminium alloy to BS EN 755, 515, and 573 standards. Available from stock in mill (untreated) or natural anodised surface finish in 4-metre lengths. Powder coat and cut lengths available to order.

Notes. Jig marks, up to 50mm in from each end (often less than this), can be apparent on anodised items. These marks can be cut away before fixing.

Shade variations can occur with anodised surfaces due to the reactive nature of this finishing process.

Product Code:  GA 1004 (Mill) / GA 1004s (Natural Anodised)

Gap Width:  13mm

Suitable Panel Thickness:  Typically 12mm (MDF, plywood, particleboard) — refer to the dimensional drawing for precise tolerances

Profile Type:  H-Section Panel Joint Trim (open I/H-shaped extrusion)

Material:  Grade 6063 Aluminium Alloy

Standards:  BS EN 755, BS EN 515, BS EN 573

Anodising Standard:  BS EN ISO 7599

Powder Coating Standard:  BS 6496 (1984) — available to order, please contact Sales

Length:  4 metres (4000mm) standard stock length

Available Finishes:  Mill (Untreated) or Natural Anodised

Finish Notes:  Anodised product codes carry an ‘s’ suffix (e.g. GA 1000s). Minor jig marks within 50mm of each end are standard and can be trimmed during final fitting. Shade variations may occur between batches due to the reactive nature of anodising.

Surface Marking Test:  Independent testing (Ceram / Lucideon): anodised surface achieved up to 4× greater abrasion resistance than mill finish

Sized for Standard 12mm Board — the Most Specified Panel Thickness: 12mm MDF, plywood, and particleboard are among the most widely used board materials in interior fit-out. The GA 1004’s 13mm gap is matched to this thickness, providing a practical working tolerance that allows panel edges to slide in cleanly without requiring precise edge finishing or trimming on site.

Flush Joint Line, No Face Fixings: The H-section holds both panel edges simultaneously, keeping them in the same plane along the full length of the joint. There are no screws, rivets, or visible fixings on the panel face — the trim sits between the panels rather than over them. This produces a joint detail that is both structurally sound and visually clean.

Works in Both Fixed and Demountable Panel Installations: The open slot of the H-section allows panels to be removed individually after installation if required — slide one panel out of its slot and the adjacent panel remains held by the profile. This makes the GA 1004 particularly suitable for demountable partition systems and modular display installations where reconfiguration or panel replacement may be needed.

Test-Backed Surface Performance in the Anodised Finish: Where the joint trim will be visible at close quarters in a commercial interior, the anodised finish option offers a measurably more durable surface than mill. Independent testing conducted by Ceram Building Technology (now Lucideon) demonstrated an up to fourfold improvement in abrasion resistance for anodised aluminium compared with untreated mill finish — a relevant consideration for fit-out work in offices, retail, and hospitality where the trim receives daily incidental contact.

Straightforward to Install and Cut On Site: The GA 1004 can be cut to any length using standard aluminium-cutting blades and requires no specialist fixings or adhesives. The panel insertion method is straightforward: fix one panel, slide the trim over its edge, then engage the second panel. No pre-drilling of the trim itself is required for most applications.

Office & Commercial Interior Boarding: In office fit-out, 12mm MDF and plywood are standard for wall boarding, feature panels, and reception desk cladding. The GA 1004 connects adjacent board lengths cleanly, providing a consistent metal joint line that works alongside other aluminium trim elements in a fitted interior. The anodised finish is compatible with standard office interior colour schemes and specification requirements.

Shop-fitting & Retail Display Fixtures: Shopfitting regularly uses 12mm board for shelving carcasses, display plinths, and back panel systems. The GA 1004 provides the joint connection between boards, allowing panels to be butted up cleanly and the joint finished with a visible metal line rather than a filled or painted butt joint. The profile sits flush with the panel face and does not project beyond the board surface.

Modular Partition & Hoarding Systems: For modular, boarding temporary or permanent partition walls, and demountable internal screens built from standard board, the GA 1004 creates the panel-to-panel joint while allowing individual boards to be removed and reused. The profile is light enough not to add significant weight to a lightweight panel system and can be reused across successive installations.

Educational, Healthcare & Public Building Interiors: Wall panelling in schools, health centres, and public buildings is commonly executed in 12mm board for its combination of stability, workability, and cost. The GA 1004 finishes panel joints with a durable metal line that withstands the cleaning regimes and incidental contact typical of these environments and can be specified in the natural anodised finish where a more robust surface is needed.
