Description

The GA 1371 Aluminium Moulding is an aluminium general-purpose moulding trim with overall dimensions of 25.4mm wide by 4.75mm deep — GA’s shallow, close-to-surface moulding profile. Unlike channel, H-shape, or edge-cap trim profiles, this is a face-applied moulding: it sits directly on a surface rather than receiving or connecting a panel edge within a slot. The shallow 4.75mm depth means it projects barely perceptibly from the surface it covers, making it the right choice wherever a trim detail must remain as unobtrusive as possible.

At 25.4mm (one inch) wide, the GA 1371 covers narrow joints, hairline gaps, and surface transitions with a clean, flat metal band that registers as a precise, deliberate detail rather than a heavy architectural feature. The flat face of the profile provides a consistent, uninterrupted surface from edge to edge, suited to applications where the trim is meant to blend rather than stand out.

Manufactured from grade 6063 aluminium alloy to BS EN 755, 515, and 573 standards. Available from stock in mill (untreated) or natural anodised finish in 4-metre lengths. Powder coat and cut lengths available to order.

N.B. Jig marks, up to 50mm in from each end (often less than this), can be apparent on anodised items. These marks can be cut away before fixing.

Shade variations can occur with anodised surfaces due to the reactive nature of this finishing process.

Profile Character:  Shallow face-applied moulding — low projection from surface, flat face, precise narrow cover strip

Profile Category:  Aluminium Moulding — Face-Applied Decorative and Functional Trim

Material:  Grade 6063 Aluminium Alloy

Standards:  BS EN 755, BS EN 515, BS EN 573

Anodising Standard:  BS EN ISO 7599

Surface Marking Test:  Independent testing (Ceram / Lucideon): anodised surface achieved up to 4× greater abrasion resistance than mill finish

Near-Flush Surface Profile — Minimum Projection: At only 4.75mm deep, the GA 1371 projects minimally from the surface it covers. In environments where protruding trim elements are a snagging hazard, a cleaning obstruction, or visually inconsistent with a flush surface aesthetic, this shallow profile resolves the problem without sacrificing a durable, finished edge detail.

Precise 25.4mm Face Width for Close-Tolerance Details: The 25.4mm face (exactly one inch) covers narrow gaps, joint lines, and surface transitions that are too wide for a raw sealant bead but too narrow for a broader cover strip. The consistent face width runs true over 4 metres, making it a reliable choice for long runs where any visible taper or variation in width would be apparent from a distance.

Face-Applied Fitting — No Edge Preparation Required: The GA 1371 fixes directly to the surface over the detail being covered. No rebating, routing, or preparation of the substrate is required — the moulding simply sits flat against the surface and is fixed through its face or bonded with a compatible adhesive. This makes it a fast, practical choice for both new installation and refurbishment work.

Anodised Surface Durability Independently Verified: Independent testing by Ceram Building Technology (now Lucideon) confirmed that natural anodised aluminium extrusions withstand up to four times as many abrasion passes before showing surface damage compared with mill finish. For a flat cover moulding that sits proud of a surface and is regularly cleaned or brushed against, the additional surface hardness of the anodised finish directly extends the period before the profile shows signs of wear.

Corrosion Resistant for Interior and Sheltered Outdoor Use: Grade 6063 aluminium’s natural oxide layer inhibits surface corrosion. The GA 1371 can be used in interior & exterior environments subject to moisture, mild non-abrasive cleaning agents, and temperature variation, normally without serious effects.

Covering Hairline Joints & Surface-to-Surface Transitions: Where two panels, sheets, or substrates meet with a slight difference in height— particularly in cladding, boarding, or panel installations where the joint cannot be filled and painted — the GA 1371 provides a clean metal cover strip that bridges the gap with a consistent, defined line. The shallow depth means the trim lies neatly against both surfaces.

Surface-Mounted Detail Lines in Interior Fit-Out: In commercial interiors where metal banding, shadow lines, or reveal details are used to add visual structure to large wall or ceiling surfaces, the GA 1371 provides an aluminium detail element that can be fixed at any position along a wall, across a ceiling, or around a perimeter without requiring routing or rebating of the substrate. The flat profile creates a thin, precise line rather than a deep shadow.

Picture Framing, Mirror Surround & Display Mouldings: The flat face and precise width of the GA 1371 make it a practical choice for framing pictures, mirrors, and display boards in commercial and public-facing environments where a metal framing element is preferred over a traditional timber moulding. The aluminium construction resists warping, swelling, and the humidity variations that affect timber frames, and the anodised finish maintains its appearance without the need for periodic repainting.
